Inspired by the boom in vegan food blogging, I made this blog as a way to interact with other people- vegan, veg or veg-curious- and to exercise my food writing. Out of it, I’ve made friends all over the world and I have the honor being let into other people’s kitchens and lives.
I’m a member of the clan of Portland, OR vegans, moving here out of love for the climate, the progressive atmosphere, and to join the ever-expanding community of veg*ns taking the city by storm. I live with my husband, Jim, and our fur kids:
Linus

Ravi

Bindhi
and

Hazel.
When I’m not baking or spending time with my family I like to read, write and enjoy music. Some of my favorite books include The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe and the works of Sarah Vowell and David Sedaris. I collect kid’s books that I think are cool and have an entire bookcase of them. I’m a huge Beatles fan and love the solo work of Paul McCartney and George Harrison. Some of my other musical favorites include Patty Griffin, Mason Jennings, Jontha Brooke, Sarah Harmer, Michael Franti, Jeff Buckley, Andrew Bird and a million others.

Comment by dave July 18, 2007 @ 9:41 pmI’ve wanted to get in touch with you since we hung out (for a few seconds) at VegFest. I wanted to thank you for the great “Vegan Master Baker” apron. I love cats too, as you may know. I’ve been working my ass off for 2-and-a-half years straight, and now I have a tad more relaxation in my life. Maybe we could all get together sometime?
Hi! I was checking out Portland this weekend( my husband and I are relocating from NC, for all the same reasons you did, and other vegans do too!)we were at the Bay leaf and I saw you and Jim and 2 other couples (one lady was wearing a herbivore t shirt) Anyway, i wanted to stop by your table and introduce myself and say how much I enjoy reading your blog-but I chickened out at the last moment! We were sitting at a table near the window facing the parking lot.I never did find the herbivore store, so I wish I would have asked where it was too! it seems Portland has such a smalltown feel, we will probably cross paths after I move out there! And next time I’ll say hello!
